The Community Services Area of DHS is looking for a Social Worker 3 who will be responsible for caseload coverage in the absence of an assigned Social Worker 2.

SHIFT (Hours of Work, Days Off): Monday – Friday, variable schedule between 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., occasional travel.

Salary $48,713.60 - $73,465.60 Annually
Desired Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of three years of full-time experience in a social work capacity in a public or private agency;

OR

graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in social work and the equivalent of two years of full-time experience in a social work capacity in a public or private agency;

OR

a Master's degree in social work from an accredited college or university;

OR

an equivalent combination of graduate education in the social or behavioral sciences from an accredited college or university and qualifying experience up to a maximum of thirty semester hours for one year of the required experience;

OR

employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of one year of full-time experience as a Social Worker 2 shall be considered as qualified.

Additional Qualification Requirements:

For designated positions in case management, the appointing authority may request those applicants possessing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major or at least 30 semester hours or its equivalent in the behavioral sciences, education, health care, human services administration, or social sciences and the equivalent of 12 months of full-time experience in the delivery of human services in the combination of: chronic mental illness, developmental disabilities, and intellectual disabilities as a Targeted (Medicaid) Case Manager;

OR

an Iowa license to practice as a registered nurse and the equivalent of three years of full-time nursing or human services experience with the above population groups.

Selectives:

923 Targeted Case Management Bachelor’s Degree with at least 30 semester hours including:

  • Behavioral Science 
  • Education
  • Health Care
  • Human Services Administration
  • Social Sciences

Applicant must also possess 1 year experience in delivery of human services as a Targeted (Medicaid) Case Manager in the combination of:

  • Chronic mental illness 
  • Developmental disabilities
  • Intellectual disabilities

OR

Applicant must have Iowa license to practice as a registered nurse and the equivalent of 3 years nursing or human services experience.

Duties:

Under supervision, this position will train Social Worker 2 staff in securing services for a population of individuals of all ages with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, brain injury and/or specialized healthcare needs. Responsibilities of the position include leading, planning, directing, one-to-one coaching of staff and ensuring regular communication and coordination with customers. Applicants should have strong leadership skills, be results focused, and have a strong commitment to quality customer service. The service delivery area is subject to change, as business needs change. The position also works within a team environment to determine what projects should be initiated, dropped or curtailed. This position will function as a case management program specialist and review case records and provide feedback. This position requires experience in the provision of Targeted Case Management services and the position holder must meet the special certification required for target case managers for a minimum of one year. This position will serve as a member of the TCM unit Quality Assurance team. This position will help design and implement the training curriculum for the unit. This position will assist the supervisors in accordance with set procedures, policies, and standards.
