Shift differential of $0.90 per hour for second shift and $1.00 per hour for third shift and a strong opportunity for advancement, growth and development.
The CCUSO program serves civilly committed clients that have discharged their criminal sentence, but through a civil process, have been deemed high risk to sexually reoffend if not confined in a secure treatment setting.

Assists mental health staff in therapeutic work and performs a wide range of security functions in creating a maximally therapeutic environment for the care and treatment of sex offenders with mental abnormalities and/or personality disorders that have been civilly committed directly from prison to the CCUSO (Civil Commitment Unit for Sexual Offenders) program; performs related work as required.
The Psychiatric Security Specialist provides direct-care services of both a security and treatment nature at the Civil Commitment Unit For Sexual Offenders (CCUSO), located on the campus of the Cherokee Mental Health Institute in Cherokee, Iowa.
Routine duties of the Psychiatric Security Specialist job include, but are not limited to: day to day supervision of various patient activities at the CCUSO facility, facilitation of psycho-educational group activities, documentation of patient behaviors, operation of the master control center, and escort and supervision of patients on medical trips outside the facility.
