Plains Area Mental Health Center is seeking to fill a dual position of Peer Support Specialist/Family Support Specialist in the Cherokee, IA office to provide peer and family support services to adults and children with chronic mental health diagnoses. Peer Support Specialists are required to have personal experience with a serious mental illness or substance abuse and have demonstrated ongoing adherence to treatment and a willingness to identify themselves as a person in recovery. Family Support Specialists are a parent/guardian of a child with a diagnosed serious emotional disturbance. The Peer Support/Family Support Specialist will provide support and encouragement to IHS members and assist with navigating the behavioral health and physical health systems. This position will serve on an Integrated Health Services team that focuses on a holistic approach to care coordination for Medicaid eligible members.
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Computer skills important. Travel required. Competitive wage and excellent benefits.
