We are seeking a Human Resource Delivery Specialist to join the Human Resources division. The Human Resource Delivery Specialist is the face of the HR team and is assigned to two facilities located in Cherokee, Iowa, the Cherokee Mental Health Institute (CMHI) and the Civil Commitment Unit for Sexual Offenders (CCUSO).

The ideal candidate will be organized, able to multitask, pay close attention to detail, prioritize, and able to problem solve. In addition, the candidate must be proficient in human resources, customer service, oral and written comprehension, and active listening. The chosen applicant must be trustworthy and keep information confidential.

This position has a significant impact on employees by creating a positive experience starting at the new hire process and continuing throughout their career. This is a full-time opportunity with a five-day work week, Monday through Friday 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM. Occasional travel for trainings and meetings will be required.  

Salary:  $45,635.20 - $67,100.80 Annually

Desired Qualifications:

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

1) Four years of full-time work experience in administrative support, at least two years of which were in a human-resources-related program area.
2) All of the following (a, b, and c):
  1.  One year of full-time work experience in administrative support in a human-resources-related program area; and
  2. A total of one year of education and/or full-time experience in administrative support in a human-resources-related program area, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
  3. A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience in general administrative support, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
3) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as a Human Resources Technical Assistant, Human Resources Technical Specialist, Secretary (any level), or Administrative Assistant (any level).

Duties:

Some of the duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and process the day-to-day transactional work such as new hires, promotions, pay increases, and separations in Workday.
  • Participate and support new hire orientation and assist new employees in completion of forms.
  • Input new employees and changes into the Kronos timekeeping system. Check for inaccuracies and missed punches to make appropriate corrections.
  • Processes payroll, update withholding elections and costing allocations, convert overtime to compensatory time, payout compensation time and distribute payroll warrants and rewrites.
  • Maintain evaluation schedule and merit increase dates for all employees and managers. 
  • Provide information to employees and applicants on pay, benefits, job description, minimum qualifications, selective certification, and employment application process.
