Family Support Specialist, Family Access Center - Cherokee

Family Access Center is seeking a Family Centered Services (FCS) Family Support Specialist (FSS) to join our team within a fast-paced, high-volume organization in Cherokee & surrounding counties.

This position is full-time and requires scheduling flexibility with ability to work evenings and weekends, as necessary to meet contractual obligations, maintain on-call availability as needed to respond to crises.

Pay: From $17 - $19 per hour

 Bachelors degree or an associate of arts degree in human services or related field plus the equivalent of two years of full time experience in human services or related field.

Applicant must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent time management skills, ability to work independently, knowledge of community resources and service providers in service area.

• Provide in-home intervention to children and their families utilizing skill-based, evidence-based practices to help families implement solutions to problems and strengthen families.
• Act as a resource, provider & advocate to families to promote child welfare.
• Provide evidence-based interventions and case management support in accordance with contractual responsibilities.
• Utilize collaborative documentation.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community partners including DHHS, medical providers, “parent partners,” lawyers, therapists, law enforcement staff, school officials, neighbors, fictive kin, emotional supports, and referral sources.
• Provides evidence-based practices to families and individuals associated with the family, utilize Solution-Based Casework, SafeCare, Child Safety Conferences, Motivational Interviewing, SFM & YTDM meetings.
• Maintain appropriate level of direct contact with families per program requirements and remain available to families 24/7 for crisis intervention as needed.
• Ensure professionalism through role-modeling, respect.
• Utilize own vehicle to travel to work destinations and transport youth as authorized, provide services in the community, primary home of the child and family.
• Report and document emergencies and critical incidents involving family members or staff.
• Participate actively in individual, group, and organizational supervisions/trainings.
