Executive Director - Cherokee

A local Corporation in Northwest Iowa is hiring an Executive Director to retain and attract business, agriculture and residents to the County. This Executive Director will be responsible for industrial recruitment, retention, and expansion activities within the county. They will act as a liaison with city, county and state government agencies and other organizations to coordinate industrial development opportunities.

• Create, develop and maintain sustainable avenues for workforce and industrial recruitment.
• Provide timely, accurate and meaningful information to the Board of Directors and make recommendations so as to permit the directors to carry out their responsibilities efficiently and effectively, including fund raising efforts and committee objectives.
• Represent the corporation in a positive manner at meetings and public events and deliver public addresses when requested. Strive to improve the public’s understanding of the purpose and functions of the corporation. Foster good relations among the various organizations and individuals upon whom the corporation depends for support and assistance.
• Work with the local Industrial Corporation, neighboring Economic Development Corporations and other community associations/groups to identify economic development opportunities and foster collaborative efforts to effectively recruit, expand and diversify the economy of the County through the attraction, retention and expansion of business and industry.
• Develop and maintain a call program for existing key commercial/industrial businesses in member communities.
• Meet and report activities to the County Board of supervisors as directed by the Executive Board and to the City councils served by Corporation annually.
