The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Budget Analyst 2 to join the team at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute (CMHI). This is a Full Time opportunity with a Monday through Friday work week. We also offer a strong opportunity for advancement, growth and development.

Salary $48,796.80 - $74,110.40 Annually

Desired Qualifications:

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

1) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, and experience equal to two years of full-time work in professional level budget analysis or fiscal management.
2) All of the following (a and b):
a. Two years of full-time work experience in professional level budget analysis or fiscal management; and
b. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in accounting, finance, or business administration equals one year of full-time experience.
3) All of the following (a, b, and c):
a. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in business administration or public administration; and
b. One year of full-time work experience in professional level budget analysis or fiscal management; and
c. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in accounting, finance, or business administration equals one year of full-time experience.
4) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full-time work as a Budget Analyst 1.

Duties:

This position works closely with the CMHI Business Manager and other Business Office personnel to coordinate financial matters for CMHI and the Civil Commitment Unit for Sexual Offenders (CCUSO). Duties include calculating financial projections, maintaining a budget management plan, presenting financial reports to leadership, performing banking transmittals, completing several reports including the hospital cost report, GAAP report and monthly profit/loss report. The position also calculates per diems for CCUSO and for CMHI medical services.
