Education In Cherokee County

Cherokee County prides itself on its educational opportunities! Four public school districts serve the students in our county. They provide a comprehensive educational experience for children preschool to high school ages. Creative and recreational opportunities are provided on an after-school basis in each district.

Cherokee County has the good fortune to be able to offer access to higher educational institutes within an hour’s drive of Cherokee, the county seat. Below are links to each school district in Cherokee County as well as community colleges and universities in or within an hour’s drive.

Graduation Rates

High School graduation rates in Cherokee County are more than 10 percentage points higher than the national average. In Cherokee County we believe in a strong educational core for all students. 

State Training Assistance

The Iowa New Jobs Training Program is a program by the Iowa Economic Development Authority to employers, which are expanding their existing operations in Iowa or are locating a new operation to the State, with employee training. This training is customized to meet the employer’s needs and is available through Iowa’s community colleges.
