Walt Whitman is protrayed by Dr. Bill Koch, adjunct professor at the University of Northern Iowa. Dr. Koch will highlight major poems from Whitman's collection "Leaves of Grass", published in 1855. In addition, he will read Whitman's tribute to Abraham Lincoln, after the Lincoln assassination, with a description of the nation's obsequies, and recitations of the Gettysburg Address and "O Captain, My Captain".

Cherokee Quilt Batts Quilt Show

The Cherokee Quilt Batts quilt show will be held on Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.



Both days are at WITCC.



Tony Jacobson, manager of Pieceworks Quilt Shop in Winterset, will be the guest speaker on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.



Admission is $5 daily or $8 for 2-day pass.



Both days include educational demos, bed turning program, door prizes and vendor booths.



Tickets for the raffle quilt will be available both days.

Cherokee Symphony - Final Concert of the Season

This ever popular concert will showcase the winners of the auditions held earlier in the winter. It is always thrilling to hear these young artists perform with the Spymphony. COME, ENJOY THEIR PERFORMANCES! Other selections by the symphony will include Procession of the Grail and Russian Sailor's Dance.



Admission Fee for individual concerts is $12.00 Season tickets available.
