counties in northwest Iowa are served for adult
patients and fifty-five counties for children and
adolescents.

aware of the changing needs of our communities and
our customers. They are responsive to these needs
by providing an environment of continuous improvement.
Services are expanded or changed in response to
changing needs. The Institute actively collaborates
with other agencies to provide efficient and cost-effective
services.
The
MHI is proud of it's campus, The Cherokee Human
Resource Center offers patients, as well as the
Cherokee community, access to a hiking trail and
nature study. In addition to the MHI, the campus
is also home to other agencies including the Cherokee
Day Care Center, Synergy (Chemical Dependency) Center,
The Boys' and Girls' Home, the YES (Youth Emergency
Services) Center, Job Service of Iowa, Vocational
Rehabilitation, Juvenile Court Services, and the Ecumenical Institute.
The Ecumenical Institute is a training center for anyone who wishes to extend personal care to another person from a spiritual perspective. It is non-denominational -- that is, it is all-denominational. Its mission is to provide more caregivers, who are better trained for offering support and counseling to the widening needs experienced within the communities of NW Iowa. This program has been located in and financed by both state and private hospitals. Due to the radical changes occuring in the delivery of health care services, the institute is now called to deliver its services directly in the communities. The Ecumenical Institute has offered training opportunities to more than 400 spiritual caregivers and plans to expand to meet needs. For more information call 712-225-6929.
